Vein Reduction

IPL therapy is used to treat spider veins, also known as telangiectasias, the light generates heat in the veins. As with other spider vein treatments, this causes the walls of the vein to collapse. Eventually, these veins will be reabsorbed by the body and fade away after several weeks.

Oxyhemoglobin in the blood absorbs light from an IPL treatment creating heat that helps destroy capillaries that contribute to the appearance of rosacea. Over a period of 3-4 weeks, the vessels are reabsorbed, and facial redness diminishes.

Cherry angiomas are benign (harmless) proliferations of blood vessels that appear as cherry-red bumps, most commonly on the upper trunk. Occasionally, cherry angiomas can appear purplish or be confused for a mole. They are usually small in size and can increase in number as we age. Many patients aged 30 or over have a few on their skin. IPL treatments are very effective in diminishing the appearance of cherry angiomas.
